A forest sink is a forest where the total carbon stock in living and dead plant material and in the soil is increasing. The carbon accumulates (or is sequestered) as a result of photosynthesis - where plants remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and covert it into carbon and oxygen, and the cycling of organic compounds produced by plants, animals and micro-organisms in the soil.

Indigenous forests have long life cycles (up to 700 years), so the sequestration of biomass carbon will continue for a long period time. D J Scott Associates Ltd is a vertically integrated business that can provide all levels of services required for the reestablishment of permanent indigenous forest cover. The full spectrum of services we can provide include: restoration design and planning, management plans, eco-sourced seed, plant supply, site preparation, planting implementation, maintenance, and monitoring. Please contact the consultancy if you would like to discuss a potential forest carbon sink project.
