DOC announces forest carbon sink sites to be tendered to the commercial sector – The Department of Conservation is offering opportunities, by way of tender, to invest in the establishment of ‘forest carbon sinks’ on areas of public conservation land in order to access the carbon credits generated. This provides a win/win situation where DOC achieves its goal of increased biodiversity and improving ecosystem services on the sites in question, and the successful tenderer receives the carbon credits and associated marketing opportunities presented by this proposal.
DOC is requiring potential bidders to prepare restoration plans for the projects they are interested in and will take into account the adequacy of those plans in the selection process. DJ Scott Associates can assist with the preparation of the restoration plan and the implementation of the projects. We are listed on the DOC website as an advisor in this field.
